What is Static?
There are vibrational frequencies of all kinds always running through us that cannot be stopped. When we combine and harness these forces we get “static”.
Combining the power of all frequencies creates an amalgamation of internal movement that is excited and unpredictable.
Static becomes present when all sides of yourself are combined and released.
An internal awakening
Its a metaphor, bro.
That is what happens when we allow all parts of ourselves to spring forward. For as long as this potential contained within us remains animated, adventure is not only beyond but within.
Stagnated Frequency
If we were to pause static, that would pause time.
And we would get a snapshot of internal animation.
Each painting is a singular synapse of an internal awakening.

About the Artist
Artist Statement
Sommer Smith McPherson recently started to pursue a deeper relationship with her long time interest in the arts. She focuses mainly on themes of abstract expressionism, memory, and each of our differing relationships with the unknown future.
The reference materials she uses stem from her beginning memories of joy and confusion. From comic books to experimental music, the vastly differing attributes of an object, experience, or person she encounters is brought forth and combined in efforts to prove the importance towards her areas of concern regarding the ruptured state of expression amongst people today.
Bio
Sommer Smith McPherson is currently pursuing a career as a painter in the realm of contemporary abstract art. She has always held an interest in understanding the “why” behind people’s actions in life, and the mysteries surrounding inaccurate foresight.
Growing up in New England, she was never in short supply of academically centered art, although there are two sides to every coin. She is now on a mission to expand her perspective not only through art, but through everything that is not traditionally considered in such hierarchical systems. Actual beauty is not manufactured, it is found.
